I have stretched this trip out on the blog. I took a lot of pics and it takes forever for them to load on my slow internet!
Sat was game day and the day Niles arrived! Carter and I were all by ourselves this morning so I went in search of a healthy meal for him. This trip changed his eating habits greatly. Niles and I would like to raise a better eater who is not addicted to sugar like us. We are pretty careful about what Carter eats and try as hard as possible to not give him sugar, processed foods, and organic from the dirty dozen list(goggle it if you don't know what that is). This was extremely difficult when living in a hotel without a fridge for a week. We ate out every meal. So this day I was trying to wait until Niles arrived at 2 to eat, but Carter couldn't wait. I walked around for an hour looking for a restaurant that had healthy kids food. It was difficult and frustrating! Chicken Fingers, macaroni and cheese, fried shrimp, french fries...you get the picture. Finally Landry's had grilled chicken and green beans and my long search was over. (On a sidenote, we aren't freaky people who will deny every pleasurable food. This many days of terrible food is hard on a system when you aren't used to it!)
On this journey we came across some Indians. If you watch Treme on HBO, then you know that these can't be real New Orleans Indians, but Carter liked the drums.
Little Swimming while waiting for Niles to arrive.
Niles and I put Carter down for a nap and set out on his first New Orleans adventure. It was an early dinner before the game. We ate at a place call The Gumbo Pot. It was spectacular. He got shrimp and I got red beans and rice. Great New Orleans food! (I tried something new if you didn't notice:)
Game time!
Coach Larry Brown sat right in front of us. Famous sports people kept stopping to talk to him.
Tom Izzo
Look between the two gentlemen in the hats. I saw this man and said, "Ohh mom its John Wooden!" Her response was, "John Wooden is dead!" On closer inspection we realized it is Coach Fisher from San Diego State. Other famous people we saw were Ashley Judd, Dennis Miller, and Steve Zahn from Treme. They were all Kentucky fans therefore did not deserve for me to take their picture:)
You can see my dad to the right of the huddle
Jayhawks win!
I love this pic, My dad and Coach T so excited about the win
Ugg I love this pic and my eyes are closed! It is the only pic I have of all of us and I love how bored Carter looks. I need someone who is good at photoshop to open my eyes!
