Happy Anniversary!

Our 8th wedding anniversary was yesterday!  We cooked out last night and planned for a Niles and Tiffany day today (Wed).  Carter was going to his last day of daycare and we planned to go eat at a restaurant in a non-rushed manner and go to a movie.  We got about half way to Edwards when we got the call that Carter had been crying for about an hour and a half and had been running a fever.  We told our Niles and Tiffany day a sad good-bye and turned around.  This is not the first time this has happened.  Carter has been in a very fun stage of something small happens and he just completely loses it. Today it was getting sunscreen in his eyes.  In his defense when I walked into daycare he looked awful. It was especially awful that he is screaming uncontrollably and trying to say good-bye to our daycare lady.  It was very sad.  I felt really bad for her bc she was crying and Carter wanted no part of a good-bye with her.  I am going to have to take him back for decent closure, I'm afraid he may have damaged her heart for life!   We decided to go ahead and take him to the doctor.  This is very unlike him and we are leaving for Illinois on Sat.  I was afraid maybe all the swimming had given him an ear ache?  Our doc doesn't work on Wednesdays so we drove to Glenwood to see the doc that was there when he was born.  He looked at us like we were crazy, because Carter was being his usual sweet self and we may have looked like crazy people.   Oh well I can get the plane Sat not worrying about his ears.  On that note the doc told me that planes are pressurized to 8,000 feet so it is not much of a difference than everyday for us.  Good piece of knoweledge that came out of that visit:)  He was still running a fever so we weren't super crazy.

Happy Anniversary Niles, may we survive Carter and sunscreen:)

Father's Day

For Father's Day Niles wanted to go camping.  We were a little nervous about how Carter would do.  I think we were both fully prepared that we may be picking up camp at 3 am to drive home, but he did great.  We decided to go to Rifle Gap State Park.  We wanted a state park so we could have a fire and you can't have one any where else in the state because of fire bans.  State parks have more people, but Niles went online and found a perfect secluded spot.  Carter had a hard time going to sleep in the tent, but eventually drifted off.  He woke up in the middle of the night once and ended up taking over my sleeping bag!  All in all a good experience from a trip that could have been terrible!

When we got there it was cloudy, thundering, and lightening
It sprinkled a little, but not much. The clouds kept it cool which was very nice
Carter liked all the camping gear
He didn't understand that the cooler needed to stay cool
There was a nice swimming beach, but I was not prepared with suits.  The water was freezing anyway.

I think this view is how Rifle "Gap" was named

Cooked steak for dinner and it was fantastic!
Carter had his first corn on the cob which was perfect and sweet
He liked rolling around in his wagon...
 and just wandering around

We made dutch oven biscuits for breakfast

Saw some wildlife. This was a brave and fat chipmunk that was enjoying our left over biscuits.

Can you spot the geko

It was a great Father's Day

16 Months Young

Carter is 16 months young now! This is going to be a photo dump, I have lots of pics that I have not posted in my blogging absence.

Tulsa to DEN, sleeping boys

He discovered the mirror behind the veggies last week, he likes to wave and laugh at himself.  Very amusing to fellow shoppers.
This is Miss Charlee Sue.  Bill watched Carter the party night and this is what Charlee was wearing when I got there. Hello Kitty fedora, diaper, and crocs. Fantastic is all I have to say!
We started swim lessons this week.  They won't let you take any pics while the lesson is going on.  I would not have paid if I had know that.  JK he is having a great time.  He doesn't mind going under water, loves to jump off the side into the pool, likes to "swim" back and forth between me and the instructor.  That may have something to do with how big a FLIRT he is!  He loves the two instructor girls.  One of which is a former student of mine.  They put him under water and he comes up laughing.  He waves at them all the time (and the people swimming next to us in the lap pool) and when he sees them starts putting his arms out to go to them.

"Parent/Tot" class Carter, show me some love!  We are in a class of 5 other kids.  I felt so bad for this one little girl who is 3 and old enough to move to the next class, but they won't let you move up until you master the skills in this lower class.  All her buddies are in the other class and she is stuck with the babies.  I think they are going to let her move up next week.
 More summer fun, playing/eating sand
I think this may be my new fav pic, playing with the vacuum while wearing his pjs, hoodie, and crocs
Carter loves to give kisses to babies and dogs.  The problem is he gives french kisses, which is really gross with dogs.  Please Lily give me a kiss!

A couple of videos

Watching the Thunder

Owen is really good at this funny fake laugh that he taught Carter

Playing with our car

Had to know this word was going to show up soon,  "Uh-Oh." He is also saying Bye-Bye now.  It  shocks me every time how new words just pop out.

On a Happy Note!  Welcome to the World Tate Allen!  This is my cousin Carrie's new baby boy.  Grady Max looks so excited about his new brother:)

Father's Day pics coming soon.  I've been a little distracted by a poorly written, but completely addicting series that I won't admit to reading.

Good-Bye Nelson Family

One of my best Eagle buds left the Valley for good this week.  She got an amazing job in Jordan next year!  Yeah the Jordan on the other side of the world!  I am very excited to follow their adventure, but sad to see them go.

Amy who is going to motive me to do crazy things like running a half marathon!  We celebrated together for several events.  1st was our back to school night.  There are a lot of pictures out there somewhere, but I don't think I want to see them.

Bye Amy we will miss ya:(

To celebrate their departure and the retirement of our other friend Deb we rented a cabin up at Sylvan Lake for the night.  It was awesome and my idea of camping!

Drinks and the mountains

Netty, Beth, Me, Retiree Deb, Traveler Amy...missing our friend Becky who got Strep.  (If you will notice Step. is capitalized, has a period, and is italicized bc that is how a scientist writes it according to Niles.)
Looking across the lake we thought we saw this moose
It turned out to be this

Sylvan Lake

We walked down from the cabin to see if we could see the "moose"  and ended up walking around the lake.  Genius me had on flip flops and my feet were disgusting.  Tip-Don't hike in flip flops.
Last Night celebrating at another Teacher's retirement party.  She hired a DJ and had a hurricane bar.  It was a very fun last night with Amy and a great party to end a great teaching career!  Yeah Carol:)

The Retirees Deb and Carol rocking out to Schools Out for Summer
Dance floor...I would be the one not getting low..Ha, the lowest one would be the other 7th grade ELA teacher, Go Deb!

Great end to the school year!  Amy we wish you safe travels, the time of your life, and of course a groups of girlfriends just like us!

TEVA Mountain Games

The TEVA mountain games are alays a fun event.  They are like the X-games of mountain sports-bouldering, kyaking, mountain biking, running, dock dogs, and lots of other stuff.  This year we didn't pick the best time to show up, lots of in between events or events that had already started.  We had a good time anyway.  Carter got a little tired at the end, and then Niles gave him a snack and he was all good!

Dock Dogs practicing, this girl was having a hard time getting her dog to go in the water!

Some bike thing where they do tricks.  We were waiting forever to watch this guy practice, but he took to long.
Carter and his friend Einstein, they were discussing the world's problems

Volvo made of legos, doesn't Niles look excited
