Father's Day

For Father's Day Niles wanted to go camping.  We were a little nervous about how Carter would do.  I think we were both fully prepared that we may be picking up camp at 3 am to drive home, but he did great.  We decided to go to Rifle Gap State Park.  We wanted a state park so we could have a fire and you can't have one any where else in the state because of fire bans.  State parks have more people, but Niles went online and found a perfect secluded spot.  Carter had a hard time going to sleep in the tent, but eventually drifted off.  He woke up in the middle of the night once and ended up taking over my sleeping bag!  All in all a good experience from a trip that could have been terrible!

When we got there it was cloudy, thundering, and lightening
It sprinkled a little, but not much. The clouds kept it cool which was very nice
Carter liked all the camping gear
He didn't understand that the cooler needed to stay cool
There was a nice swimming beach, but I was not prepared with suits.  The water was freezing anyway.

I think this view is how Rifle "Gap" was named

Cooked steak for dinner and it was fantastic!
Carter had his first corn on the cob which was perfect and sweet
He liked rolling around in his wagon...
 and just wandering around

We made dutch oven biscuits for breakfast

Saw some wildlife. This was a brave and fat chipmunk that was enjoying our left over biscuits.

Can you spot the geko

It was a great Father's Day
