New Orleans Day One

After the Kansas win over UNC last Sunday, we all started scrambling to figure out how we were going to get to New Orleans! It is funny because last year when KU was in the Elite 8 I found cheap tickets to Houston and bought them with a prayer for KU to win so we could go. It was perfect bc I was already off work on maternity leave! We lost and ended up going just for a day so Carter could meet his Grandpa H for the first time.

This year I didn't even think about buying tickets. Didn't want to jinx the Jayhawks! They turned out to be really expensive. I really needed to fly with the team so it would be free, but had to take more days off work. Niles didn't have that option bc of his recent trip to San Fransico. He and my sis booked one way tickets to NOLA, and we were on our way!  Carter and I flew out of Denver on Wed.  My parents were suppose to pick me up, but good luck would have it that my dad got the SIU job and the press conference was set for Wed in Carbondale.  They had a manager's roommate pick me up and take me to their house.  We waited for the Self's to come pick us up and take us to the gym.  Carter had fun wreaking havoc all over his Grangie's house.  She needs some serious baby proofing to happen:)

 

I was really nervous about flying with the team and with Carter.  I really got nervous when Coach Manning took the seat in front of us and Coach Brown two seats in front of us, but he did ok.  Not great, not terrible.

A real New Orleans band meet us at the hotel and girls with beads!  Lots of media as well, it was a madhouse.
