I have really gotten away from posting monthly updates since his first birthday. I think things in my head all the time that I need to put and I never do...then I forget which is against the point. And sometimes I type them and then I say I have to get a good picture to go with it and then I don't get an good pics and never post them. I really like going back and reading them. You forget so much and this way I never will. So the following are the updates I typed in a draft and never posted. I went ahead a typed up a new one too, bc I feel like he is changing so much. This is really long, I will try not to post almost a years worth of updates in one post in the future.
Things to Remember about Carter at 22 months:
-Really playing with his words. When he does something new he does it over and over again. He said "Mommy Daddy" together instead of separate the other day...then he did it twenty more times and changed the order around and said that twenty more times.
-Loves the Christmas tree. He has three ornaments he is allowed to touch. I am proud to say the tree has been up a week and not one broken ornament...yet.
-His Monkey lovie thing is his favorite. He had been calling him Ah-ha, and all the sudden Bunkey popped out! I haven't heard him call it ah-ha since then. He did that with a lot of animal sounds. He would either say the animal name or the sound they make, but not both. Now he is starting to say both.
-Calls any liquid, "Milk." He is very much like his Mama and Grandpa and likes to drink. That sounds awful, but both my dad and I could down the daily allowance of water in one sitting (my dad is more of an ice tea man). We are a waiter's nightmare. Carter likes to be hydrated as well. I should have put on one of the older ones that he would carry his cup around in his mouth by the straw and play and drink at the same time. Not anymore bc he ruined all the cups with straws from carrying them around in his mouth all the time! I do have to say that the day when I can stop buying sippe cups will be a great day, I despise them!
-The throwing a fit and screaming for no reason have started. Not my favorite thing either. We don't have many meals where there is not some kind of screaming going on. He wants to use the fork or spoon all the time, but it doesn't always work the way he wants it to. One tiny crumb will fall off and he is screaming. If you try to help he is screaming, bc he wants to do it himself. Sometimes I just put the food down in front of him and he starts screaming. The most infuriating thing is when he finally takes a bite, looks at me and says, "Yum" and then eats it all! Then of course doesn't eat the very same thing when I pack it for lunch the next day. I know we have many more years of this, but I am not one for crying. I think he cries more now than he did as a newborn going through sleep training!
-He will pretty much eat anything, especially if he isn't sitting in his high chair. If you are eating it, he wants it. We went to Costco and I picked up a sample of cheese. After I picked it up the lady told me it was goat cheese. Tiffany does not each goat cheese, Carter was reaching for it so I let him go for it and secretly did a Whew in my head that I didn't have to turn the corner and waste it in the trash. He sometimes may help his mommy with a bit of broccoli as well.
-Getting better on his strider. He is better than riding it around our house. Our yard has deer poop all over it and our street is too dangerous for him to be on. We took him down to the middle school parking lot and he rode around for a long time. We can't get him to sit down on the bike, but he will get there.
-Loves the deer that have moved into our yard. He notices them out the window before I do! I just know one day he will say bear or lion and one will be there and I will freak out. If the deer don't go away then the lion thing could happen sooner than I would like.
-Loves the Ipad or my phone. He makes the funniest sound when he sees one of them. We have to keep them hidden or he would want to play on them all of the time. He also makes the same excited sound when he sees a penguin? I have no idea why.
-Still loves to read. I really love how if he has a book he has to sit in your lap. Melts my heart.
Things to remember about Carter at 21 months Old:
-Saying new words all the time! Newest are: Moo, blueberries, I luv you, broccli, please, thank you, blue, bunny, cock a doodle doo and Sadie. Some of those words don't come out perfectly clear all the time. He is starting to try sentences. Usually things like Hi Mommy and Bye Bye Sadie Sadie, but he also does this stream of baby gibberish with one real word mixed in.
-Growing like a crazy man! When I took those pictures at Tumble tots a couple of weeks ago he could hang from the bars and not touch with his feet and this week when they went his feet were dragging. Madness!
-Climbing, this is sometimes a bad thing. Started climbing on his crib to turn on his light. I looked over while cooking the other day and he had climbed into his high chair.
-Loves to jump
-We can make the "Go Pokes" guns, wave the wheat, and make an O. Starting him off right!
Things to remember about Carter at 18 months:
-Talking up a storm. You still can't understand a lot of it, but what he does say he says with conviction! I had to make a list of all the words he can say. We practice when we are driving around and I couldn't remember them all. I tried to get video, but he is way more interested in the camera than performing for it.
-Climbing all over everything.
-Wants to do everything himself which makes for some very messy meals
-LOVES books. That is where he has learned most of his words. He could sit forever and read over and over with me. It makes me very happy. His favs would be anything with animals, Peek a Who, Eight silly Monkeys, First words, baby faces, One fish, Two fish, really anything.
-Busy, busy. My Aunt Paula said our new daycare guy Nick was going to quit from exhaustion, but not yet:) It is very difficult to go un baby proofed places. He is learning though. He is starting to handle things like stairs. Still puts a lot of stuff in his mouth, but getting better. I can't wait for that stage to be over!
-If he doesn't get his way his screams his head off. Not very fun. We went through some sickness and change of schedule with me going back to work. He was not happy a lot of the time. I kept trying to tell him that he is not helping mommy convince daddy that Carter needs a sibling when he stands around and screams all the time:)
-No-This is Carter's new favorite word. He tells himself no so you know
that he is about to do something that you will have to say no to:) For
example if you hear him say no in the hallway it means he is about to
hit the test button on the carbon dioxide monitor. No in the kitchen
means he is taking off the tray to his high chair, no in the living room
means he is reaching for the picture above the couch. No, no mama
means he is mad at me not letting him stand on the dining room chair and
jump, which is also a new favorite. Here's hoping that he will stop
telling himself no and just stop doing those things. Don't laugh at
me! It could happen!
