California Part One-The Beach!

We left for California last Wednesday.  Carter traveled ok.  We didn't have any potty accidents, but he kicked and kicked the seat in front of us the whole trip.  We had to sit holding his feet which caused him to scream or he would continue to kick the chair.  Wonderful terrible two's.  The lady in front of him wasn't a, "I understand I have kids" kinda person either.

We went to a beach town named Oxnard.  It was a great area, right on the ocean.  We were able to walk right out to the beach.  They had a nice pool too.  We got some cloudy weather which wasn't so fun, but the sun eventually came out.

I built a sand castle that Carter was determented to destroy.  It took me a couple of tries.

Oh he wants to mess with it so bad

 It was so fun
He was pretty scared of the ocean.  Not much that this kid fears so it was nice to see.
 He warmed up eventually

This was our first day.  Not so sure about those waves.
1st in and out. Why don't they have these everywhere?  Every one had a huge line inside and out.
Our rental car was a Prius space car.  Why can't they just make it like every other car that runs on electric!  I had a fight with it every time just trying to get it in reverse!  We didn't even use one tank of gas the whole week we were there.  That part was nice.

I dressed Carter up and tried really hard to get a good pic of him on the beach.  He doesn't sit still so most are action shots.

This is him running away from the water.  I was trying to take his picture and he wanted to be held bc he was scared.  He decided to just go back to the hotel.
He did check if we were coming
 Not happy

We had two celebrity sightings on this part of our trip.  First was Victor Ortiz the championship boxer that coincidentally knocked my dad out at Late Night at Phog Allen a few years ago.  He was also on Dancing with the Stars this last season.  Second was the coolest.  David Koechner that plays the sports guy on Anchorman and was on the Office was our next door neighbor.  He has five kids, including twins.  Niles talked to him in the elevator and we may have spent a little extra time on the balcony.  Beach and movie stars what else could you ask for...
